How we play.

Meredith Hamm is an artist and author/illustrator of children’s books. Her debut title, King Zucchini, is a big-hearted story exploring the strong emotions that can arise in response to change and new situations.

In addition to making her own art, Meredith guided college art and design students for 15+ years.  Her own work has been deeply shaped by helping hundreds of students understand human response to color, shape, and form. She loves a lively class and a rowdy conversation.

Meredith lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband, son, Zucchini the dog, and Willow the cat.  She can play a decent Chopin nocturne, pogo-stick with the best of them, and finds more 4-leaf clovers than really makes sense. Someday she hopes to play a groovy stride piano and master baking a popover.  She let the dream of doing a great handstand go (FOR NOW) after that trip to urgent care.

A person with long yellow hair lying on a grassy area with their arms and legs spread out, smiling with eyes closed, surrounded by flowers and small plants. A white dog is lying next to their feet. There is a colorful skateboard with a heart on the tail in the corner, and a small insect on the wall.
